Are you an educator who plans to offer a volunteer school group program with your students in the upcoming year but would like to gain the first-hand experience of our programs beforehand?

Squads Abroad  offers complimentary ‘Ambassador Trips’ on select dates (including airfare) for qualified High School teachers, counselors, coaches, administrators or group leaders.  While staying as a group at our home-base accommodations, our Country Director will guide two full days of workshops, volunteer placement site visits, and engaging cultural activities you would potentially offer your students on a future Squads Abroad trip.  Take advantage of the opportunity for professional development while returning home with a sense of confidence and purpose.   To organize a group of students at your school to form a Squad Abroad and take on a valuable volunteer initiative while broadening their cultural perspective!

We reserve 12 spaces per date offering.  Ambassador Trips are available to educators on a first-come, first-serve basis pending approval for select dates.

Ambassador Trip Schedule

Costa Rica, April 10-14, 2018

Tuesday, April 10:

  • Ambassadors travel to Costa Rica arriving Juan Santamaria Intl airport (SJO) in the evening
  • CCS van transport from the airport to the Home-base in Cartago
  • Settle into the Home-base and get some rest

Wednesday, April 11:

  • Welcome Breakfast,  Orientation, and Overview of CCS Programming by the Country Director Jose Hernandez and School Group Director Erik Werner
  • Community tour of Cartago and cultural activities offered in the surrounding area
  • Lunch at the home-base
  • Visit Squads Abroad host volunteer sites and project initiatives.
  • Orosi Valley tour
  • Dinner at the home-base
  • Evening Cultural Activity

Thursday, April 12:

  • Breakfast at the home-base
  • Travel to the town of Samara located on the Pacific Coast/Nicoya Peninsula.
  • Lunch in Samara
  • Orientation with partner organization and schools
  • Dinner and Free-time
  • Lodging provided 

Friday, April 13:

  • Morning cultural and adventure activities! 
  • Lunch and Final Reflection Session
  • Transport back to SJO airport or the Cartago home-base for flights home Friday evening or Saturday morning OR stay extra day(s) and enjoy free-time on your own on the Pacific Coast!
